3 Tips on How to Write a Proper Thank You Card

by Alex Szen

Writing a thank you card? Why not. You can’t really go wrong with it. The people you write thank you card for will feel appreciated and acknowledged. It is a great way to express your gratitude properly even if you are a shy person, and the recipient will always have something to hold onto and look back upon from time to time.

A thank you card is a proper way of thanking someone for a lot of things, for example a gift, service, help, and many more. If somebody does a favor for you, then you can definitely send a thank you card their way with heartfelt words that are personal.

1. General

When it comes to thank you card writing, you should try making each note personalized so that it will be different and more meaningful to each recipient. It is best to keep a stack of card stocks for your thank you card so that you will not run out of it at a critical time.

A thank you card is best written short and straightforward. However, if you do have a lot to say, nobody says you can’t send a long paragraph for the recipient of your thank you card.

Also, it is important to be specific with your thank you card. Let them know what you are grateful for, and be even more specific about it. For example, it is better to say “thank you for the flowers you sent me on my wedding” instead of simply saying “thank you for the gift” as it sounds like you don’t even remember what they sent to you.

That’s why, it is important to send out a thank you card as soon as possible even if you didn’t care about the gift they sent, entirely. You can also provide a little bit of more details about how will you use it or have used the gift they have given you.

2. Message Tone

The tone of your message should adjust to the closeness between you and the recipient of your thank you card. If you are sending your thank you card to a close friend, you can be as casual as you want and make it sound more intimate than the cards you send to the coworkers you are not very familiar with. A simple tip to write a great thank you card is to read it out loud. It makes it easier for you to notice mistakes and grasp how does it sound like when pronounced properly for best results.

3. Deliver Clear Message

In order to send out an efficient thank you card, you have to make sure that the message you write in your thank you card is clear and easy to understand. It is also important to check for any spelling or grammatical errors in your message to make sure that it’s perfectly understandable for your thank you card recipient.

Now, what are you waiting for? All you have to do is start working on it and leave the printing process to a good printing service and you will get your thank you cards in no time.
